With many
employees using company-issued and their wireless devices for work purposes
(making easy calls, interacting with
customers, etc.) companies have a pressing need for mobile device management,
MDM. Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policy enabling use of tablets and other
mobile devices for work purpose entails complication of securing and managing company
networks. Updated or new policies covering the use of wireless devices should
be implemented by companies address this issue.
MDS
solutions implemented by companies must be easy to manage, secure and meet the
budget. Moreover, a guidance for workers should be provided to get BYOD and
company-provided devices users acquainted with rules. BYOD and MDM policies
should be correlated. An MDM
policy should specify how data is protected from attackers. It should also
provide guidance on the use of mobile devices within network. To secure that
mobile devices used for work purposes are wiped of company data remotely the
MDM policy should include remote wipe guidance. Implementation
of an MDM policy can be bear a close analogy to that of an acceptable use
policy, which oblige mobile workers to sign an agreement prescribing not to
violate security policy if the connect to the company network. The policy
should specify the consequences of violation including abolishing use of
company-owned and personal devices to dismissal depending on the violation
degree.
